Since my cholesterol was a tad high and soy is supposed to lower your cholesterol, I decided to start mixing soy grits into my hamburgers and to snack on energy bars and soy nuts. I did my best to eat this awful food but whenever I did I had bad stomach cramps. I blew up like a balloon and had so much gas my girlfriend almost left me. My breath and body odor weren't too good either. If this stuff is supposed to be so good for you, why did I smell so bad?

Losing extra weight can lower your cholesterol, too. Choose low-fat or fat-free cheeses, sour cream, and yogurt. Use herbs, salsa, and spices instead of rich sauces, gravies, and extra salt. Bake, broil, boil, or steam foods. If you cook with fat or oil, use just a little or, better yet, none at all. Try nonstick pans and cooking spray. Trim the fat from meat before cooking. |

They get you to believe you need to lower your cholesterol. But cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease. There are people with 600 cholesterol counts that have absolutely no arteriosclerosis, no blockages and no heart disease. And there are people with cholesterol counts of 100 who have massive blockages and are dropping dead from heart attacks and need triple bypass surgeries. The amount of cholesterol in your blood is not the problem. The problem only occurs when the cholesterol attaches itself to the artery, thus clogging the artery and restricting the blood flow. |

When you take a drug to lower your cholesterol, it doesn't change the insulin resistance that raised your cholesterol in the first place, it doesn't change your blood sugar problem, it doesn't lower your blood pressure or your homocysteine level or the amount of iron in the bloodstream—all of which are known risks that need to be addressed in order to reverse or control so-called heart disease. The cholesterol drug lowers cholesterol, making you think you are fine because your cholesterol is lower. |
